Economics Conferences

The Church has been involved in the ethics of economics since 1995 primarily as part of the its work with the European Ecumenical Commission for Church and Society (EECCS)  In 2009-10 The SRT launched a series of conferences to examine the ethical dimensions of economics. The first of these conferences entitled is, “What is the International Economy for?” The second conference addressed the Market Economy in Britain. The third and final conference addressed issues relating to social economics. Some of the key note speakers included,  Rt. Hon. Douglas Alexander MP, Secretary of State for International Development. And Mr. John Sweeney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance & Sustainable Growth in the Scottish Government. The full report on the conferences is available here
