Glasgow Presbytery are hosting an event at the Glasgow Science Festival

The Glasgow Presbytery Community Responsibility Committee is hosting an event at this year's Glasgow Science Festival. 

Navigating Medical Crises: how to be prepared for the dilemmas and the decisions

Join leading hospital consultants Prof D Robin Taylor and Dr Calvin Lightbody for this two-hour seminar, in which you’ll explore how to process the dilemmas and tensions of a medical crisis.

Dates: 11th and 12th of June 2018

Venue: Wellington Church, 77 Southpark Avenue, G12 8LE

Programme: Two complementary presentations from an Accident and Emergency Consultant and a Hospital Consultant. These will be followed by an open discussion session. The evening will finish with a case study for group discussion. Areas addressed will include - certainty or uncertainty in medical decision making; the meaning of “prognosis”; how to avoid medical harms; the importance of truthful conversations; quality versus quantity and goals of care at the end of life; should treatment ever be withdrawn? and the importance of anticipatory care planning.
