Studied biochemistry at Aberdeen before entering the pharmaceutical industry as a research scientist working in drug discovery. Retirement followed many years investigating the actions and characteristics of novel drug molecules in fields as diverse as immunology, cardiovascular disease and psychiatry. In addition to membership of the Church and Society Council, I am Session Clerk at St John's, Carluke and am active in developing the churches' mission in the community through activities of the town parish grouping. Leisure pursuits include gardening, walking and trying to achieve some competence in golf, curling and the French language.
