Community Shares Scotland
Kelly McIntyre joined Community Shares Scotland as Programme Manager in June 2014. She leads the work of this exciting new programme - growing a sustainable legacy for community shares in Scotland through awareness raising, a dedicated support service, in-depth specialist consultancy support and range of training opportunities. Community Shares refers to the sale of shares in enterprises serving a community purpose - this community can be either geographical or of interest. Shareholders invest in local enterprises providing goods and services that meet a local need. The enterprise is then controlled and governed by the community it serves.
Prior to joining Community Shares Scotland, Kelly worked in the community development trust and social enterprise sectors for several years - managing a wide range of community initiatives, including community regeneration, the low carbon economy, community orchard creation, woodland and food projects, renewable heat programmes and local woodfuel, renewable energy and transport.
